This is a private consulting firm providing fire protection engineering and building code consulting services. Serve as project engineer and project manager in responsible charge of design and engineering of fire
protection features for new and existing facilities. Clients include architects, building owners and the military.

Technical aspects of the work include design of automatic fire sprinkler systems, smoke control/removal systems, gaseous fire extinguishing systems, fire alarm and detection systems, fire protection engineering surveys of existing facilities, and consultation on various facets of building and life safety codes including exit facilities and fire ratings of materials of construction.

April 1985 to July 1991: President of S. S. Dannaway Engineering. Same as above, firm name changed in July 1991 when the firm incorporated.

April 1979 to April 1985: Fire Protection Engineer, Pacific Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

May 1978 to April 1979: Fire Protection Engineer, Chesapeake Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Washington, D.C.

Served as a fire protection engineer in the Design Division. Designed fire protection features for new
construction and building renovations for Naval shore facilities throughout the Pacific Basin. Traveled extensively to Navy and Air Force bases in the Pacific. Responsibilities included design concept formulation, detailed design, code compliance, and determination of code equivalencies, review and approval of contractors shop drawings for fire protection systems, acceptance tests of fire protection systems, fire protection engineering surveys, and fire investigations.

1975 to 1979: Volunteer Fire Fighter and Emergency Medical Technician, Silver Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Prince Georges County, Maryland.
